Deviceflow September 2025 Update

September 2025

Hello friends!

Deviceflow is the AI-native ops platform for medical device commercial teams— bridging digital communication & physical assets by automating the manual workflows that delay surgeries and distract sales reps, increasing revenue.

September has been one of those months where everything feels like it's clicking into place. Famous last words, I know, but from closing our fundraising to rolling out with our first customer, we're all feeling optimistic & want to go even faster.

TL;DR:

  1. Need your help - looking for intros to Sales/Ops leaders at major medical device companies
  2. Fundraising complete - secured our full $1.5M target(!) - announcement coming in October!
  3. First customer live - rolled out to our first manufacturer + their entire distributor network with fantastic feedback (15 distributors overall, each working with at least a handful of manufacturers!)
  4. Teamworthy Fellowship - joined an incredible community of founders in DC
  5. Major product improvements - simplified based on real user feedback, introduced game-changing checklist capability

How You Can Help

This month we have a specific ask:

Connect us to Sales & Operations leaders (Managers, Directors, VPs) at medical device manufacturers and distributors. Specifically looking for folks at:

  • Zimmer Biomet
  • Globus Medical
  • Stryker
  • Smith & Nephew
  • DePuy Synthes
  • Any other smaller orthopedic manufacturer or distributors.

Even a warm intro to someone who knows someone would be incredibly valuable. Here's a blurb you can share with them:

Deviceflow is building AI Agents & workflows focused on reducing the waste & errors in medical device distribution - including rep onboarding, field inventory management, case scheduling and even the medical device revenue lifecycle.

Fundraising - Mission Accomplished!

The dust is still settling, but I'm thrilled to share that we've secured all the funding we were looking for! Our $1.5M pre-seed is officially closed. The official notice will come out later in October once we're done with all the paperwork, but we have found amazing investors who believe in our mission & share our vision.

This isn't just about the money (though having runway through 2027 feels great). It's validation that our vision resonates - building a new type of ERP for medical devices that's not another single-player, siloed, dead-end system. Instead, we're creating a dynamic market network connecting reps, distributors, and manufacturers, letting them transact easily whether through apps, messages, emails, or phone calls.

Our mission is also resonating: no more forcing everyone into rigid workflows. Meet people where they already work.

Teamworthy Fellowship - Finding Our Tribe

Mid-September, Anatoly headed to Washington DC for the kick-off of the Fall 2025 Teamworthy Fellowship. What an incredible experience!

The program brings together founders at similar stages with mentorship from those who've been through the journey. The speakers were insightful, but honestly, the side conversations were gold. There's something powerful about being in a room full of people who get the unique brand of crazy that is building a startup.

Most valuable takeaway? A conversation with a founder who'd built in healthcare said: "The companies that win in regulated industries aren't the ones with the best tech - they're the ones who understand the workflows so deeply they can simplify without breaking compliance." That's been rattling around in my head ever since.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn from other builders' experiences. Already implementing ideas from those conversations!

Product Development - Real Users, Real Feedback, Real Progress

First Customer Rollout - Learning at Warp Speed

We rolled out Deviceflow to our first manufacturer customer and their entire distributor network! I spent three days doing onboarding, then three weeks collecting and acting on feedback.

The response has been incredible, but here's the thing about real users - they tell you exactly what sucks. And that's pure gold.

Simplification Based on Reality

One piece of feedback hit hard: our object-request system was too complex for what users actually needed.

You know that feeling when someone points out something obvious you've been overthinking? That was this moment. We'd built a Ferrari when users needed a reliable Honda.

So we did something that might seem crazy - we threw out a bunch of code. Rewrote the Accounts & Sales Representatives objects to be simpler. The result? Same capabilities, 50% less complexity. Sometimes the best feature is the one you remove.

New Platform Capability - Checklists

Here's the thing about medical device operations - it's all about processes. Who needs to do what, when, and in what order. We realized we needed a primitive that could handle this elegantly.

Enter: Checklists.

Sounds simple, right? But this is becoming the backbone of how we build workflows. It's like we invented Lego blocks for medical device processes. Want to share a process? Create a checklist. Need something done periodically? Checklist. Onboarding flow? You guessed it.

Onboarding Flows That Actually Flow

Our first two checklist implementations are already live:

Distributor Agent Onboarding:

  • Create account ✓
  • Add team rep (or invite someone) ✓
  • Checklist disappears when done - no manual tracking!

Sales Rep Onboarding:

  • Complete custom onboarding form (built with our slick form builder - customers can create ANY form they want!)
  • Fill out account details
  • Soon: Initial cycle count at onboarding (critical for those managing inventory ad-hoc)

What makes this special? It's not prescriptive. We're not telling companies how to onboard - we're giving them tools to encode THEIR processes. Big difference.

Looking Ahead to October

October is shaping up to be our most important month yet:

  • Launching our first true "multiplayer" features where multiple parties collaborate in real-time
  • Building out the conversational AI layer (remember - text your AI ops assistant!)
  • Starting conversations with those Sales/Ops leaders (hint hint - need those intros!)

But here's what I'm most excited about: we're coming out of the "will this work?" phase and into the "how fast can we build this?" phase. The foundation is solid. The vision is validated. Now it's about execution.

Final Thought

Building in MedTech has taught me something: we're not here to build another app, we're here to understand the chaos and create calm without disrupting what works.

Every spreadsheet flying between partners, every text asking "where's that set?", every phone call confirming what should be automated - these aren't just inefficiencies. They're opportunities to give people their time back. And we take that to heart, because an hour saved is an hour with family, enjoying the fruit of the work, not chasing down inventory.

Thanks for being part of this journey! Seriously, any connections to medical device folks would be amazing right now - we're ready to show them what the future looks like.

Best,
Anatoly, Dan & Jason
Team Deviceflow

P.S. - Here’s a fun one: one of our distributor reps said "I actually look forward to doing cycle counts now." When was the last time anyone said that about inventory management? 😄
