Deviceflow August 2025 Update

Deviceflow Update - August 2025

Hello friends!

August flew by in a blur of pitches, product sprints, and some incredible validation moments. Can't believe it’s already September!

TL;DR:

  1. Hit $875k in commitments
  2. Pitched at Plug and Play's Global Selection Day, accepted into their Health Batch 21(!)
  3. Our most productive engineering & product month, ever
  4. Need your help connecting us to anyone in MedTech - sales reps, executives, anyone drowning in manual processes

How You Can Help

This month we have one big ask:

Connect us to ANYONE in medical devices! Sales reps, operations teams, executives, distributors, manufacturers - if they touch medical devices, we want to talk to them. Our network has been incredible, but we're at the stage where more conversations = faster learning = better product. Even a warm intro to a sales rep at a small distributor could unlock a game-changing insight.

Fundraising Progress

August is traditionally dead for fundraising, but we still moved the needle - now at $875k committed toward our $1.5M target. The Plug and Play acceptance is already opening new conversations. Planning to close in September so we can focus entirely on growth this fall.

Plug and Play Selection Day - The Experience

Mid-August, I stood in front of a packed room in Sunnyvale presenting Deviceflow alongside 40+ other startups across multiple verticals. The energy was electric - founders solving everything from cancer to tax compliance, in our case, the archaic world of medical device operations.

Here's the deck if you want to see how we're positioning the story.

When I described the "12 messages, 8 people, 6 apps, 3 days" problem, heads were nodding throughout the room. Not just from healthcare folks - everyone recognized this pattern of broken workflows held together by humans texting each other. We're not just solving a MedTech problem; we're solving a universal business problem that happens to be most acute in medical devices.

Big Win - Plug and Play Health Batch 21!

Sorry to bury the lede, but we were accepted into Plug and Play Health - Batch 21!

Out of thousands of companies they evaluate annually, being selected feels like serious validation. PnP backed companies like PayPal, Dropbox, and Guardant Health. Now they're betting on our vision of transforming medical device operations with AI.

This opens doors to their network of 50+ corporate partners and 500+ VCs. More importantly, it validates what our customers have been telling us - this problem needs solving NOW.

Big Win - Early Pilot Results

One of our distributor pilots is wrapping up their first manufacturer audit using Deviceflow.

The results are out of this world:

  • Cycle counts were done over a span of only 8 days, our champion said “those reps who’ve used other scanning products said this was by far the best experience they’ve had
  • Reduced initial variance from ~4% to 2.45%, this is a huge, nearly 40% reduction in overall variance, and a 25% reduction in item variance (overall vs. item is when there are more than one item in variance)
  • Deviceflow automated variance reporting - we built a reporting tool that automatically found the products in variance across the entire territory - and even provided images of this inventory - even if the reps didn’t scan the packages themselves (we used machine learning to extract both text (unstructured) and datamatrix (structured) data from all the boxes at scale - thousands of images - to build this).

Best of all, the director of operations said, “College football is starting in two weeks, and I want to go watch Saturdays free.” Mission Accomplished! 🫡

Building Deviceflow for the Long Game

August was our highest productivity month in company history. Not because we worked more hours, but because we fundamentally changed HOW we work:

Tighter Feedback Loops

We moved from ad-hoc to weekly check-ins with design partners. Small issues that used to take a week to surface now get fixed in hours. One distributor said: "You fix things faster than we can report them!"

Pattern-Driven Development - Enterprise Legos

Here's the unsexy truth about building great software: it's not about features, it's about patterns. We spent months building reusable patterns that now let us ship new workflows in days, not weeks.

Think of it like building with Lego blocks instead of carving from stone. Every new pattern we create becomes a building block for 10 future features. The compound effect is starting to show - we shipped more in August than in the previous two months combined.

Examples:

  • Scan Batch” pattern & UX flow works for audits, cycle counts, shipping check-ins, and anywhere you need to scan a bar code. One line of code.
  • Multi-step Form Manager” pattern has been leveraged across trunk orders, bill-only utilization tracking, account, and rep creation. This pattern lets us build complete workflows in only a few hours - workflows that look & feel like the rest of the app, but custom to each use case.

This isn't just about moving fast - it's about building something that scales. When we onboard our 100th customer, they'll get the same reliable experience as our first, and the code paths will be so well-trodden that we’ll have less customer service & support pressure, creating a durable, profitable business.

What's Different About Our Approach

After dozens of conversations this month, here's what resonates most:

We're not replacing systems, we're replacing spreadsheets, text messages & emails. Every medical device company has an ERP. But the real work happens in Excel files flying back and forth. That's what we're fixing.

AI is the foundation. We're not bolting ChatGPT onto 10-year-old interface, we've been building AI-first from day one. Take for example the multi-step form manager pattern. The data structures powering that pattern are the same that power the conversational UI.

We speak both languages. Manufacturers think in terms of compliance and control. Distributors think in terms of flexibility and speed. We're the translator that lets both sides work together without compromising what they need.

Looking Ahead to September

September is already shaping up to be transformative:

  • Closing our round (finally!)
  • Launching with our first manufacturer pilot
  • Kicking off Plug and Play program with mentor sessions
  • Rolling out our "first multiplayer ERP" features where manufacturers and distributors collaborate on managing their collective business.

But most importantly, September is when I consider us as Generally Available. The training wheels are coming off.

Final Thought

Building in MedTech is hard. The sales cycles are long, the compliance requirements are intense, and the industry is allergic to change. But that's exactly why the opportunity is so massive.

Every text message between a sales rep and ops person, every spreadsheet emailed back and forth, every phone call asking "where's that set?" - these aren't just inefficiencies. They're symptoms of an industry ready for transformation.

We're building the cure.

Thanks for being part of this journey! Seriously, any introductions to folks in medical devices would be incredibly helpful right now.

Best,
